Students will practice setting, beginning, middle, end, characters, and sequencing and retelling skills in this lesson. After telling the cumulative tale -- No dinner with repetitive sections....Students join in going backwards through the story to help set the words and phrases in their minds as well as the order that they appear in the story firmly in mind. By the time the little old lady gets home --- they have the characters and repeated phrases and are ready to practice their "play" which is more like readers theater. After the story they color animal masks that go with the tale -- and are divided into troupes of actors! If you need more characters just add more animals to the mix.
